Usually each coffee cherry contains beans that are split in half, whereas the peaberry is a single tiny round bean the size of a pea... Hence the name. Only 3% of each crop grows in a “peaberry?form, that means only 3 out of every 100 coffee beans! Back in the day, Peaberry had a reputation of being deformed so nobody dared brewing it until a brave person decided to give it a shot. That was the end of bitter coffee.
